MicroRNAs in malignant tumors of the skin PDF Download
MicroRNAs in malignant tumors of the skin: First steps of tiny players in the skin to a new world of genomic medicine 1st ed. 2016 Edition PDF Download
by PD Dr. Michael Sand (Author)
Michael Sand gives the reader an overview of current techniques in expression profiling of miRNAs and their maturation machinery in the skin. This book is a postdoctoral thesis on miRNAs in cutaneous malignant melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer with a focus on the miRNA processing machinery and miRNA expression profiling. The research presented in this book was performed in the Dermatologic Surgery Section at the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology of the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany and gives the reader an overview of current techniques in expression profiling of miRNAs and their maturation machinery in the skin.
In malignant tumors, uncontrolled cell replication occurs, which can be caused by a loss of function of tumor suppressor genes or the activation of oncogenes. These alterations have an immediate effect on thecell cycle. As a component of tumorigenesis, uncontrolled cell division manifests clinically as a malignant tumor. A number of studies have shown that the regulation of both tumor suppressor genes and tumor growth-promoting oncogenes is regulated by microRNAs (miRNAs) [1-3]. Whether miRNAs in skin tumors also assume a molecular-pathological role has not been investigated to any great extent and is the subject of this work.
